Frequently Asked Questions

  • Individual Therapy $190 (45 minute sessions)

Couples Therapy $190 (45 minute sessions)

    Caregiver/child attachment Intensive 7 week program $285/week

Extended sessions: I offer 45-minute sessions for $190. However, if you find that you need more time, you can add an additional 25 minutesfor $95. This will bring your session length to between 1 hour and 10 minutes and 1 hour and 15 minutes. Please be sure to request this when booking your session, as scheduling adjustments will need to be made.

I am a private-pay therapist, which means I do not work directly with most insurance companies. This allows me to provide greater privacy, flexibility, and individualized care without the limitations of managed care.

If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill to help you seek potential reimbursement from your insurance provider.

If you have specific questions about reimbursement or rates, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to walk you through it.

  • I primarily work with clients who choose to pay privately (cash-pay) or use their out-of-network insurance benefits.

To support clients who want to seek reimbursement, I can provide a superbill—a detailed receipt that you can submit directly to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.

If you’re unsure about your out-of-network coverage, I recommend contacting your insurance company directly and asking : “Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health therapy?”

    You can also ask:

“What percentage is reimbursed for sessions with an out-of-network therapist, and do I have a deductible to meet first?”

Choosing to work outside of insurance allows for greater privacy, flexibility, and individualized care that isn’t dictated by insurance limitations.

  • Yes! In many cases, you may be eligible to use your out-of-network (OON) benefits to receive partial reimbursement for therapy.

You’ll be responsible for paying the full session fee at the time of your appointment, and I will provide you with a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

  • Great question! If you’re considering using out-of-network benefits to get reimbursed for therapy, here’s how to check if your plan includes them:

Step 1: Check your insurance card

    • If your card says PPO, you likely do have out-of-network (OON) coverage.

    • If it says HMO, you’re usually limited to in-network providers—but it’s still worth calling to confirm.

    • Some cards list out-of-network benefits or a Behavioral Health section directly on the back.

Step 2: Call your insurance provider

Look for the Member Services or Behavioral Health number on the back of your card. When you call, ask the following questions:

    1. Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health therapy?

    2. Is there a deductible I need to meet before reimbursement starts?

    3. What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?

    4. Do I need prior authorization to see an out-of-network therapist?

    5. How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?

Once you have that information, you’ll have a better idea of what to expect. I provide a monthly superbill with everything you need to submit your claim.

Still unsure? I’m happy to walk you through the process and support you however I can.

  • Since I’m a private pay provider, you’ll be responsible for paying the full session fee upfront. If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance may reimburse you for a portion of the cost—typically 60–80% of the session fee, depending on your specific plan.

To find out what your coverage includes, contact your insurance provider and ask:

“Do I have out-of-network coverage for mental health therapy?”

“What percentage is reimbursed and is there a deductible I need to meet?”

I will provide you with a superbill after each session, which you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

Keep in mind: even with out-of-network benefits, your insurance may request a diagnosis or clinical documentation, which can affect your privacy. If you prefer complete confidentiality and control over your mental health records, private pay may be the best fit for you.

  • Using your out-of-network (OON) benefits is usually a straightforward process—and I’m here to make it easier.

Each month, I’ll provide you with a superbill (a detailed receipt) that includes all the information your insurance company needs. You’ll typically upload this to your insurance provider’s online portal or submit it by mail.

Once submitted, your insurance company will review the claim and send any eligible reimbursement directly to you.

Still have questions? I’m happy to walk you through the process step-by-step.

  • Great question! While both options allow you to work with me, there are key differences:

    Private Pay (Cash-Pay):

    • Offers maximum privacy—no diagnosis required to start therapy

    • Gives you more freedom around treatment length and goals

    • No paperwork, no insurance involvement

    • Ideal if you want full control over your care

    Out-of-Network Benefits:

    • May reimburse you for a portion of each session

    • Requires a diagnosis and sometimes treatment updates

    • Insurance may request clinical documentation or limit sessions that they will reimburse for

    • involves some paperwork. but I’ll guide you through the process and provide everything you need to submit claims

Both are valid options—it just depends on what feels right for your needs, values, and financial situation. I’m happy to walk you through both!

  • I choose to work primarily as a private-pay therapist because it allows me to offer a level of care that’s personalized, flexible, and focused entirely on you—not dictated by insurance guidelines.

Private pay allows us to focus on your goals, your pace, and your healing—without needing to meet criteria for a diagnosis or submit detailed updates to a third party. It also offers a higher level of confidentiality and freedom in your therapeutic journey.

That said, I understand therapy is an investment, which is why I also offer support for out-of-network reimbursement to make this process as accessible as possible.

  • Yes! I offer online therapy sessions throughout California to make care more accessible and convenient.

If we meet virtually, you’ll receive an email before your appointment with a secure video link. You can join the session using your laptop or phone—most clients prefer a laptop for comfort and ease.

For the best experience, I recommend being in a quiet, private space where you won’t be interrupted. It helps to have good lighting, a comfortable seat, and a surface to set your device on so you can feel relaxed and fully present during our time together.

  • Therapy sessions are typically 45–50 minutes long. While it may appear that your appointment is booked for a full hour, this is the standard length across most therapy practices and allows us to wrap up with intention. It also gives me time to complete documentation and prepare for my next client so I can be fully present for each session.

  • Most clients attend weekly sessions, especially in the beginning. Weekly therapy provides consistency, helps build trust in the therapeutic relationship, and allows for deeper momentum in your healing process.

In some cases, bi-weekly sessions may be appropriate, depending on your goals, progress, or availability. I’ll work with you to determine what frequency best supports your needs. We can always revisit your schedule as we go.

  • The length of therapy varies from person to person—each journey is unique. My approach is solution-focused, designed to help you reach your goals as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Many clients experience significant progress within 3–6 months and feel confident stepping away from therapy once their goals are met.

For clients who are working through more complex challenges like trauma or ongoing anxiety, a longer-term approach may be more supportive and appropriate. Therapy can provide a consistent space for healing, regulation, and emotional growth over time.

Some clients choose to continue longer because they value having ongoing support and a safe space to process their thoughts, emotions, and life changes.

Ultimately, the duration of therapy depends on your needs, preferences, and goals. My role is to support you and equip you with the tools and insights you need so that, in time, therapy becomes something you no longer need—but always know you can return to.

Together, we’ll decide what feels right at every stage of your journey.

  • Choosing a therapist is a big decision—and it’s important to find someone who aligns with your values, needs, and goals. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

    • Are you ready to commit the time, effort, and investment needed to improve your life and relationships, even when it feels hard?

    • Are you open to doing the inner work—reflecting, growing, and learning new tools for lasting change?

    • Are you feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges, but motivated to find solutions and start feeling better?

    • Have you been navigating stress, anxiety, or self-doubt, and want support and guidance to move forward?

    • Are you craving healthier, more fulfilling relationships—with yourself and others—and willing to explore what’s getting in the way?

If you answered “yes” to any of these, we may be a great match. I’d love to support you in this season of your life.
